Toronto Maple Leafs/Chicago Black Hawks Autographs From The 1930’s

In the old days of the Original Six, the Toronto Maple Leafs barnstormed their way across Western Canada to play exhibition games against semi-professional league teams or, on the odd occasion, another NHL club. The latter must have been the case over 80 years ago, when this gentleman’s father waited at the station for the Leafs, and their opposition, the Chicago Black Hawks, to disembark the train in an attempt to secure their autographs. As you can see from the video, and the photos below, it was a good day to be an autograph seeker! He managed to acquire the signatures of the entire Toronto roster including: “King” Clancy, Hap Day, Conn Smythe, “Flash” Hollet (whatever happened to nick-names?), George Hainsworth and Frank Patrick. On the Black Hawks side, he scored a few key players, including Marty Burke and Mike Karakas. In addition to hockey, this man’s father also managed to collect some signatures from a few baseball players from the famous Philadelphia A’s, including Connie Mack, and even some Hollywood royalty including Errol Flynn. Watch as I purchase this item for $550.00 cash.
